If we truly understood the passion God has against sin, as evidenced by the high cost of sacrifices from the dawn of creation, we would not struggle nearly so hard when he reveals an area in our lives that needs to change.
If we had to gruesomely kill an animal and splatter it’s blood and therefore be contaminated ourselves by its blood, I believe we would consider our choices more carefully.
And if we had to do that daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly for the rest of our lives – how tragic!
But that gruesome, violent, painful and bloody cost was paid once for all in Christ’s sacrifice. He was born to die. And yet we treat him like he was born to bless us, gratify us, and cater to our every whim.
We take the cross of Christ far too lightly.
We take our sin far too lightly.
And we take our pleasure far too seriously.
In a word: passionate. About Jesus, church, ministry, music, reading, family, friends, and sometimes even iced skinny soy mochas.
